This dark humour-driven sitcom about a group of young people in Chennai who cause hilarious turmoil manages to elicit laughs, but it can be a little complex and annoying at times. It passes muster as a first attempt.

All of the ingredients for kuthukku Pathu are found in a commercial potboiler. The seven-part online series features a love tale, an abduction scene, a bike race, a gang battle, murder, an MLA and his two wives, a RAW agent, and other characters.

The series is packed with punches, much like the show’s tagline suggests. “If you want peace, I’ll give you a chicken piece; if you want war, I’ll give you world war,” some of them say.

As the story unfolds, a rash proposal is made to a north Indian girl living in Chennai, which enrages her brother. The only reason the youth proposes is so that he can be seen with a fair-complexioned female! A brawl breaks out amongst both sides’ friends.

The battle of words between the Hindi and Tamil gangs intensifies, prompting them to make huge jabs at each other’s histories.
