Kerala Minister for Cultural Affairs Saji Cherian revealed the winners of the 53rd Kerala State Film Awards. The winners of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy’s top prizes were chosen by a panel led by Bengali cinema director and screenwriter Goutam Ghose, notable for works such as Padma Nadir Majhi, Kaalbela, and Moner Manush.
Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam won the Best Film award out of the 154 films that were submitted for screening for the awards. While Mahesh Narayanan won Best Director for his work on Ariyippu, Mammootty won Best Actor for his work on Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. Vincy Aloshious received the prestigious Best Actress award for the film Rekha.
